Make Dave Money Project

The Make Dave Money Project is a collection of smaller various projects that are either passive or unscheduled part time.

These projects include:

  • An Automated Crypto Trading Project
I learned about scripting for automation while working at Waukesha County. I thought it might be fun to automate trading.
    • I designed and created a system that would buy and sell crypto currencies based on a price predictions.
      • Web scraping price values from websites to by API call limits
      • Create 7 day predictions and update prediction tables
      • Buy or sell automatically based on predictions
      • Test past decisions against past data to improve trading practices
  • Violin Repair and Resale
How did this happen? I wanted to learn how to play violin. I found some cheap violins on an auction website. I bid on a few and lost the auctions. I then bid on many and won 14 auctions. I started fixing the extra violins to sell them, sold them, and discovered that I liked doing it.
    • I source distressed violins in need of repair, repair supplies, and missing items.
    • I perform repairs such as post setting, revarnishing, and bridge carving.
    • I sell the violins on various online seller platforms.
  • Electronics Repair and Resale
I succeeded with violins and I have a degree in electronics engineering. I have experience repairing consumer electronics and the toys of my children. I thought I would try electronics as well.
    • I source distressed electronics that I am able to repair.
    • I perform repairs such as testing, repairing circuit boards, buying replacement parts, and soldering.
    • I sell the items on various online seller platforms.
  • YouTube Channel – Davesplains
While I am trying to do all of this, why not try to earn some ad revenue?
    • I become a subject matter expert and create videos of my learning journey.
      • Gardening
      • Electronics
      • Data Science
      • Business Intelligence Development
      • Machine Learning
      • Artificial Intelligence
      • Violin Repair
  • Fiverr
Why not try it? Well, I am most contacted by people who charge ridiculously low amounts of money for jobs and offer a tenth of that to me to do the actual work.
    • This has not been very successful
  • Fluid Web Concepts – Contracting
I used my senior project to get free labor for a non-profit organization who trained service dogs for veterans. I then started “Fluid Web Concepts LLC” to continue supporting the organization after the semester ended. I then got more clients, but not enough.

The point of these are largely to have self financing hobbies as well as experiments.
